When family or guests come to town, the Downtown Farmers Market is high on the priority list to take in. It's a free, casual street market, complete with musicians, food vendors, and lots of high quality produce and baked goods. Dogs are welcome, and the...More

We really enjoyed the variety of items for sale. Veggies, flowers, snacks, breakfast, lunch, wine, coffee and pastries. We didn't have a pet with us but you can bring your dog. It was nice to visit with all the puppies while shopping. Parking was a...More

I've gone multiple times, with friends and with little kids. Bring about $5-10 for parking, and make sure you have cash for the local vendors. You can get breakfast pastries for $2, local coffee for $1.50, it's wonderful. You'll see a lot of people who...More

No doubt a lot to do and see. Lots of unique products and music going on. Also, bars, restaurants, and stores open up early to take part which makes it even better.

This market is epic. There are food vendors galore, local artists, gardeners, vendors selling everything imaginable. Why else do hundreds of thousands show up every week? If you are within 50 miles of the DSM metro on a Saturday in the summer, do yourself a...More

Finished up at the World Food Prize and walked through the Farmers Market. The BBQ and Bakery (can't remember the exact name) was probably the best BBQ sandwich I have ever had. If your in town on a Saturday it's worth a stop.

We walked to the market from our hotel. Great breakfast options and lots of produce and live entertainment. Several blocks are shut down and the streets are flooded with people. The kids were disappointed it was only there on Saturday. Des Moines has a winner.

For the size of Des Moines, this gives even the big city markets a run for their money! Such a wonderful variety of food, produce, and crafts. True Heartland stuff!

It is open every Saturday during the summer months. Big party event with all the music and entertainment for a good time in Des Moines. For health purposes, please keep the dogs away from the food area...
