Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A super modern museum with plenty of hands-on activities for all ages. Livingstone's story is told in an interesting and easy to read style. The graphics are wonderful and the displays very relevant,
Lovely parkland, children's play area and cafe within the museum grounds.
Staff (mainly volunteers) are cheery, wekvomingvand informative.
Only small grouch is shop needs more variety and selection of goods. Books (Ladybird if still in print?) or similar in easy to read style for kids would be a great addition.A small book or booklet on Livingstone and the Centre would also add to the experience.
Would highly recommend a visit to this Centre which has something for all ages.
Lovely day out.

Despite visiting the area on many occasions over the years, this was our first visit to the David Livingstone Centre and we really enjoyed the experience. The exhibition was very well presented with interactive exhibits and it was really brought to life by the knowledge and enthusiasm of the volunteer guide, Mike, who actively engaged in discussion and welcomed questions.
The onsite cafe is perfect for pre or post tour refreshments, serving delicious food at very reasonable prices.

Great monument with detailed descriptions and nice memorabilia. Presents a very balanced picture of David Livingston’s history and legacy, especially in the light of modern conversations about race and colonialism. The volunteer staff go out of their way to answer your questions. The wee cafe has fantastic vegan chocolate cake (and tasty soup and sandwiches, which are not well advertised, but are available).

Arrived at 12:05 lunchtime and decided to go straight for lunch to the new pristine cafe and shop buildings close to the car park. 100 yards across the green sunny park in tree shade on solid path and we were in the door. After last Sundays excellent review in the Sunday Post newspaper;the cafe was 80 % full and the vacant tables carried reserved signs. My heart sank while we waited to be seated but rose again when Sarah breezed over smiled and reassured us “there’s a table soon”.
We sat , while table service operated and Sarah was taking our Order within minutes. Food was delivered with aplomb and nothing was too much trouble. Even tap water served in a carafe with glasses arrived at a nod by the nippy young waitress who complimented us on our food choices ! The Scones with jam , butter or cream were even better than 10.
Fresh flowers on the table in a milk bottle were beautiful. The dining area is in a sunny atrium with clear view windows on 2 sides. Light and airy; with top score toilets , it was a happy experience even before the David Livingstone birthplace museum.

Fascinating museum. Real insight into the background, travels and travails of this remarkable man. I say remarkable because he was, though I’m not sure I’d like him if I met him. The displays, information and whole experience offer a whole range of perspectives, a more rounded approach than expected. I particularly enjoyed the animated videos at the end. Really worth a watch.
And to coffee shop? Excellent. Really excellent, so much so that we’ve been back for a breakfast since!

Beautiful exhibition, reflecting on the meaning of Livingstone’s story in the past and present. I loved how involvement from the public was encouraged (signs noted that people from African descent were more than welcome to share their stories, if they had more information on some of the objects on display). You were really made to think about Livingstone’s journeys and to form your own opinion on it. It was all well-balanced.

An excellent museum, vastly improved by the recent refurbishment. The final room on the ground floor really brings things to life, reinterpreting some of the stories through the 'voices' of local people, and a variety of opinions on Livingstone's legacy. Cafe is also very good, and some very nice walks along the river nearby.

Came across the new David Livingstone centre quite by accident whilst walking over the bridge from the other side of the River Clyde. Puzzled by the fact there are no signs advertising the centre on either side of the bridge or at the entrance to the centre. Surely this place deserves better signage ? Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed looking around and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. There is a lot to see. The cafe was also very good.
