What an amazing feature for a city to have. We took the paddle boats, and the kids loved it. Will admit, I envied the rental bikers after about 20 minutes though, as kids din't help paddle after the initial trying to make a paddleboat go 20 knots and exhaustion set in on them minutes into the trip. There are bikers... More

Take a stroll along the canal, enjoy the architecture, the monuments, the museums, the artwork. You'll be glad you did.

I highly recommend a walk along the central canal when downtown. It is a very quiet, peaceful stroll, and you'll get a bit of exercise if you aren't careful. Also can bike ride but take it slow as there are many people using their Pokémon Go app.

If the weather is nice, this is a great sunny day activity. The canal isn't overly impressive, but we visited just after it was dyed green for St. Patrick's Day, so it was interesting to wander along the water.

This is a very nice place to visit if you like canals. You can rent paddle boats, bicycles and have a gondola ride. There are a couple of restaurants on the canal. The museum was a good stop. A lot art. Also a military memorial.

I felt like i was in a movie walking down the canal. I loved the apartments on either side and it made me wish i had one. Love that they have gondolas here in the summer

If you have been to San Antonio's river walk, this is similar without all the shoppes and places to eat that give the San Antonio river walk it's charm. Indianapolis should take some clues from what makes the San Antonio river walk a "destination" and incorporate them into the central canal.

Nice place to have walk or a run. You can even rent a boot over there. Peace and quiet in the middle of the town

The canal is located below street level and you don't realize that you are in a large city. There is plenty to do while walking the canal: USS Indianapolis Memorial, Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial, Indiana Historical Society, Indiana State Museum, NCAA Headquarters and Museum, Eiteljorg Museum of Western Art, and many fountains. You can rent a pedal boat, bike,... More

I love the history. Western museum, NCAA headquarters, USS Indianapolis memorial, Congressional Medal of honor memorial( VERY special), state museum, and State capitol all within a very short walk. Convenient parking and other attractions I can't recall. Similar to River Walk in San Antonio but not as commercial
