Yes, the IMA has great exhibits and galleries filled with art. But come during the Spring and walk the gardens. They are works of art themselves. Tour the Lily House at Christmas. Check out Robert Indiana's "Love" sculpture on the front lawn. Grap lunch at the cafe (my favorite is the BLTA). Another "walking through rooms of paintings" museum? Hardly.... More

The Art Museum always has amazing exhibits, permanent collections, and the outside space is gorgeous as well. We usually ride our bikes over because the 100 Acres is simply too good to pass up. A wonderful place to spend a sunny day or a rainy/snowy one.

Every day at 1 there is a docent led tour and/or available person in the galleries with an 'ask me' badge who would love to answer any question. Four floors is sure to make every interest satisfied as well as a changing special exhibit. Make use of the headphones for extra information as you travel around. There is a museum... More

A nice modern museum that has a wide variety of artwork and collections but not near the size of the large city museums. We spent just a couple hours here and enjoyed the quiet time. A few of the collections are impressive - some more traditional and some very modern. We enjoyed visiting the Lilly House (of the Eli Lilly... More

I got to see this the other day not knowing it was even close to me. My friend was a member and she had a pass for me. The grounds kinda remind me of a smaller Biltmore. The thing that caught my eye was the young people who were there that looked like budding artists. Nice to see young people... More

This was the third of a museum-filled day in Indy for my husband and myself. There are many great works, and I particularly enjoyed seeing the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, but overall I don't think this museum lives up to some others that I've been to, like the Yale galleries and Cincinnati's art museum. Maybe the gardens would have made a... More

Although the Indianapolis Museum of Art does not compare to the Art Institute, MOMA, etc., it is still well worth the visit if you are in Indianapolis. A very nice complex with some very nice pieces of art. Staff are very friendly.

We only visited the LOVE sculpture found out in front of the museum. Unfortunately the museum was closed for the day. Be sure to check the hours before visiting. We took some fun selfies that were fun for social media. I hope to return and visit the museum in the future. There are other nice large sculptures on the property.

We began our trip to Indy with a 3 hr visit to this art museum. We only saw 2/3 of the inside and very little of the outside because we wanted to see some of the city. It was very clean, the staff was very friendly and many excellent exhibits from all over the World. I was truly impressed and... More

We spent hours here on a rainy Sunday and we did not absorb all that she had to offer. Artsy putt-putt on the roof was nice, before the rain, and was enjoyed our second visit in better conditions. It took us two trips there over about 6 hours to enjoy the four floors of galleries, the winding gardens and its... More
