If you're new to the area, make this a must-see! Great for photos AND the beach barely has any rocks. It's about $5 for parking but worth it!

I wrote a review on Facebook but they deleted my post. So I will repost it on Facebook and I am writing a review here. First off this place is truly beautiful. I love what they did with the place and Dolly Harris is truly amazing. She is the person at the front desk. That is all I can say.... More

Having lived in this section of Gary (Miller Beach) decades ago, it was interesting to see the restoration work that has been done to the structure. The informative signage explains much of the history and work done on this historical architectural structure at the south end of Lake Michigan.

I was so glad to find this place. Very romantic. You can climb upstairs for the view of the Lake and Chicago. Also upstairs you will find some information boards describing history of the Aquatorium, Miller Dune Beach and about beginning of aviation (which were started in here). Make sure you read all of them as well as have time... More

As President and Founder of The Gary Aquatorium Society 25 years ago, this grand $4 million renovated building is now a place of history of flight since in 1896, Octave Chanute flew the very first heavier than air aircraft, on the dunes just 600 feet from the Aquatorium, The Society has committed one full wing that displays an 1896 glider... I'm speechless. Who would have thought that this Midwestern gem of a city would have south to offer! Historic neighborhoods, an exciting nightlife and our personal favorite, whale watching! We arrived at the aquarium and signed up for the premium tour which included penguin feeding, jellyfish holding, and a whale watching expedition at Lake Michigan. Apparently, freshwater whales enjoy company,... More

This venue is clean and can handle music, and large gatherings. It has informative displays describing the history of the area along with notable persons and events. Just dont trust the Management to handle permitting or excise paperwork properly, follow up yourself and plan on weeks not days to get alcohol permits. Parking is not free.
