There are a lot of stairs to help but it’s a workout. Remember if you go down, you must come up. The trail is mostly unpaved. And when you go down between the rocks, you will have to carefully walk over rocks and cement steps...More

Love going to all the state parks in this area. The stairs are crazy though. Great for taking pictures and even receive a cell signal.

The trails through the dells are well marked and very scenic. In several places it was quite muddy. Be prepared to climb the steps from the trail back to the parking lot.

We had such a great time walking around this park. Got lost but didn’t care, we were just enjoying the day! Wish we had horses to take the trails, that would be so cool!

Things you should know before visiting: there is a HUGE staircase leading down into the dells area hiking trails. You better be in good shape to get back up! However, there are at least 3 landings with benches to sit on to break up the...More

We especially loved our walk by the Dells area. Path was easier to handle and allowed more viewing rather than struggling whole time to not fall on steps or branches, etc.

This park defies description. It is just down the road from the much better known and much more crowded Starved Rock but i sjust as impressive. We pulled into the parkinglot at the dells area and the first thing we saw was an old stockade...More

Loved the hiking and exploring. We did one trail each day we were here and were able to adjust what we did based on the person. Some trails were easier than others and we took advantage of all of them. Friendly people on the trails....More

My family love to visit this park. It is a beautiful well maintained park. The trails and grounds are nice. This is also a great place for a family reunion and/or a picnic.

The State Park is a marked path hiking park. The Upper & Lower Dells are nice to view. The kids will need to be careful cause some of the pathways are narrow and very high on top of some canyons. Will need water proof... More

It is really whatever you want to make of it. There are canyons to climb down and cliffs to climb however most of it is a great pathway with steps and steppingstones. Check out the photos posted. Good luck. Enjoy the weather!
