Even if you're not a horse person, this place is worth a visit. It's very well laid out, and really interesting to learn what they do here, and what they charge to get the studs to mate with female horses. Really interesting, and great seeing the horses up close. The staff were very friendly, which made it that much better.... More

The National Stud and Japanese Gardens is a family friendly, interesting and enjoyable place to visit. Easily accessible from the M7 and well signposted with plenty of free car parking. The entry fees are very reasonable and include an excellent guided tour of the stud, entry to both the gardens on site and to the small but interesting museum. There... More

Stopped on way to Dublin. Had checked tour times. Arrived just in time for Tour. Tour guide was brilliant. Don't think it would have been as good with out Guide. Was well worth it and was educational. Nothing really to see in Garden as February.

I had been looking for somewhere to stop between Dublin and limerick and the stud farm kept coming up. I kept rejecting this as neither of us are into horses. Anyway we ended up going anyway and had a really nice walk. There are plenty of horses to see - the finer details totally lost on me but interesting to... More

I could not recommend The National Stud highly enough. It is a must for anybody who has a keen interest in horses rather recreational or otherwise. The back story of the stud is most interesting and I'm sure even for those of you who don't know the first thing about horse racing or horses in general there is something for... More

This was a beautiful surprise. We had an wonderful tour guide and saw the most amazing horses. Truly a place not to miss. ... and the Japanese Gardens were beautiful as well. I took a group of 12 with me to Ireland on this trip and everyone was pleasantly surprised with this visit. We visited in October of 2015 ---... More

Visited in early February shortly after it opened for the season. Found it very interesting and worth visiting. Take the tour which is part of the entrance fee. Excellent guide and very friendly woman at reception. Unfortunately no foals had been born the previous day or on the day of the visit, so that part of the stud was empty.... More

We had a very pleasant afternoon here with a lovely walk around the extensive grounds, unfortunately being so early in the year there were very few flowers but you could see the buds of drifts of snowdrops, daffodils, etc., so in a few weeks time I'm sure it will look spectacular. There weren't many horses outside as it was so... More
