Although this nature preserve is surrounded by busy roads and highways, it feels like you are at a quiet summer camp. Several trails are available for hiking; bikes allowed on the paved areas only. The paths go past the Des Plaines River, through woods and meadows, so with even a brief walk there is a fair amount of natural diversity.... More

A nice area that was near where we stayed. We had an hour to wait before a meeting and we spent it in the conservation area. A nice preservation area for this region.

I was just at Ryerson to take in Fall Foliage and walk on the paths. An outstanding place. Plenty of parking. I have been to a Photography talk at a camera club that meets at Ryerson

We saw quite a few families enjoying the many activities at Ryerson....especially all the gorgeous fall photo ops! Today the resident screech owl was meeting and greeting in the Welcome Center, Because of an eye injury, she cannot survive in the wild, so she lives at Ryerson. Her protective coloration is striking -- and watching her turn her head 270... More

The weather was beautiful and I wasn't going to stay inside and waste the day. I wanted (needed) to see fall colors and these woods did not disappoint. The trails were dry and the grass was dewy. I love the sound of leaves as I'm hiking through them. There is a Welcome Center (It was the second day of work... More

One of the gems of the Lake County Forest Preserve in lovely Lincolnshire-Riverwoods corridor. Great hiking, cross-country skiing and educational walks and heritage events

Walked through the forest on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in fall. Sunny day, leaves changing colors, easy to walk on paths. Hard to beat!

We have been season ticket holders for about 30 years. They put on outstanding productions, mostlly musicals. They mix the old favorites with some newer popular shows.

Ryerson is not on everyone's radar, but hopefully it never is as the quaintness of the place is it's charm. Beautiful old barns and home dots the premises. Great place to view Butterflies and go on a nice hike. In the fall, they host a great night walk.

It's strange that a forest preserve won't allow pets on leashes of bike riding. Nice building though.
