Not so good arrangement for reaching Gangasagar island, terrible crowd management at the embarkation point for jetty which can result into a stampede kind of situation any day. People are boarded on jetty like animals without any safety gear like safety jackets, etc.

No dear. You have to come to Kolkata and then to Kakdwip from Kolkata. Ferry service is there from Kakdwip 8 no. lot to Kachuberia on the other side of Muriganga river. Gangasagar is 30 Km from Kachuberia by road.

You can't go directly to Gangasagar from Kolkata by taxi. You have to park your car at lot no. 8 Harwood point and cross the Muriganga river by ferry. after crossing the river, you again need to hire a car for Rs. 1000-1500... More
