I love to hike here!
Feb 2021
It is hard to believe but I was at the Grand Opening of Forrest Park. At that time I did not know how much I would love it in my retirement years. Great place to spend time with my son and grandchildren! Many fun memories of hikes with family and friends!

I love going to forest park and have been going with members of my family for years. It is one of the best hiking trails that I’ve ever been on!

Great walk with nature
Dec 2019
There are trails laid out, of varying length and difficulty. There are spots marked out where stopping and listening will frequently allow you to hear birds calling, as well as the rustle of squirrels, chipmunks and other small creatures. On occasion, especially if you walk quietly, it is also possible to see deer grazing or walking through the wilderness.

It is not only an excellent place to get some exercise, it is also an excellent place to get in touch with nature, and to recharge your soul with the sights and sounds of minimally touched landscape.

My wife an I are both 100 mile hikers and we really appreciate the area for iking. The park district and volunteers do an amazing job of maintenance. There is a nice variety of trails and difficulty levels and it is a very safe place for individuals and families

Should be #1 on things to do in Peoria - and we should be talking about it non-stop!

What a dense forest with spaces and cavernous "rooms" of trees and canopies - a jewel of the city, really. To boost civic pride, just round up a few people on the sidewalk and drive them here free of charge. It's amazing! Good for walking, hiking, relaxing, taking in nature. A can't miss for natives and visitors.

Hike
Jul 2019 • Friends
This is a beautiful place with labeled trails to hike. Many people go here for daily exercise. It’s fairly quiet and usually I see deer. This day was no exception. Great place for the family. The visitors center is wonderful.

Beautiful place

Nice place to hike and feel safe. It's really great alone or with company. The trails are generally moderate to easy.. lots of shade. If you don't feel like hiking, the visitor center is very cozy and informative. Only thing is they don't allow dogs on the property.

Wear yourself out
Mar 2019 • Solo
I am an older person and if I do all the trails here I am completely wore out but generally I walk for 45 minutes or so and it’s really great exercise it’s a safe place to walk you can either walk the difficult trails uphill or you can walk around the bottom through the woods and avoid the hills and just get in some nice nature.Whatever exertion you want to do you can do it here I’ve even seen young military people run up and down these trails with backpacks on so you can pick your difficulty there’s plenty of parking it’s nice to see the trees and the Fauna. And you can really get an idea of what this area looked like before civilization got here it’s worth your time
