We always make a stop at Buffalo Rock to see the big and beautiful buffalo living on the land. It is a real connection to our history and one that we need to preserve. On this last visit, however, there was continuous loud gunfire in...More

I love big rocks (and I cannot lie). My wife and son enjoy seeing large animals, so we had to stop at the lesser known Buffalo Rock State park on our way to the bigger and better known Starved Rock across the river. The entrance...More

Do not go on a holiday weekend. ..extremely crowed. If you are able to go during the week you will enjoy nice hiking trails and scenic views. Good restaurant, nice bathrooms and picnic area, but crowded on weekends.

Buffalo Rock has always been a little gem right off the beaten path It is not as nearly big as Starved Rock or Mathieson park. It is a nice queit place to go and view the back water of the Illinois River.

I like coming here. The few buffalo that they have a nice to see. The park is nice to walk around in. The scenery is peaceful. It is usually not crowded ...I also like that.

We stopped here to have a picnic. We were disappointed because the trails were closed. The park has so much potential since it is very pretty but having the trails closed does not help.

The best part about this park was the buffalo. Highly disappointed that most all of the hiking trails were closed.

Most tourists come to the area for starved rock state park but it can get very busy. Right across the river this smaller more intimate park can keep you occupied with a beautiful view and plenty of nature.

After hiking Matthiessen and Starved Rock State Parks, this was a rather calm, "dull" park. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice place to go for a gentle stroll/hike, have a picnic and view the river. This is a park that one with disabilities...More

Park quite run down with hiking trails closed due to disrepair. Toilets heavily stained orange. No soap. The real plus was the ride up and back down. Steep for being on bikes but lush ferns and plants growing from rock is beautiful.
