In SEP 2016 the church was under renovation, so check before having your heart set on seeing and experiencing the architectural landmark. We were there in 2001 and made sure that we attended a Sunday service, which I would recommend to anyone. Sure a tour is fine if that is all the time you can spare and you are not... More

About 15 years ago I attended a wedding here. Awesome! I have visited a bunch of times since. (I live in OP now) Once you walk into the chapel thru small entry ways the space opens up with bright natural light and aesthetics that fit right in. The building on the outside looks like a fortress, but the jewel is... More

The Unity Temple is currently undergoing restoration and is completely covered in plastic. Hope to see it on another visit!

It certainly was worth seeing before the restoration started, and it will be a phenomenal experience when the restoration is complete in the Fall of 2016.

The area is really wonderful and FLW houses are magnificent. However, to me, the audio tour at $15 pp is a rip off. It gives only a 1 or 2 minutes presentation of each house which is not enough to discover FLW style. It should give options for more explanation for each house. To summarize, it's great to walk there... More

Went here reluctantly with out of town guests for Easter Sunday and was blown away by the beauty and the welcoming congregation

This place is under construction so there's not a lot to see from the outside but you can still get a feel for Frank Lloyd Wright and our guide gave us all the info from the outside. Can't wait to see what the restoration looks like when we return.

When I read that it was being renovated I had no idea to what extent. 95% of the outside of the building was covered in scaffolding and plastic. I couldn't see much of anything. A few of the columns on the front were peeking out, but that's about it. If you're planning on visiting, cross it off your list. It's... More

The building is undergoing major renovation work and coming from the Green Line 'El' Station (Oak Park), I almost nearly walked past it. The outside was wrapped in scaffolding and tarpaulins, but in May 2015 it was still business as usual tho' about to change. (If you find it closed carry on to the Oak Park Visitor Centre less than... Wonderful early work of Frank Lloyd Wright. This was Wright's own church and he introduced many features and designs never seen before. In June 2015, The Unity Temple will be closed to the public for two years to undergo an extensive renovation. See it as quickly as possible or mark your calendar for the reopening - perhaps 2017?
