We used the park most often after dinner to walk off a few calories in the cool of the evening...walking along the levee taking in the sights in town. However, it is also worth taking a spin around the cannon and monuments.

After being on crowded main street this is a nice break. Has lots of history and the kids liked all the cannons. A nice place to relax and take in the view. Lots of benches and very well taken care of.

Take the pedestrian bridge over the river into the park. You will see Grant's statue and the cannon that fired the first shot of the Civil War. Nice views and pleasant walk.

We took a short drive to Elizabeth from Galena. There is a big antique mall in the former high school and a couple places on the Main Street (highway 20), plus a little cafe/coffee/sandwich place. Also a fort. We stayed in... More
