Unfortunately, we went on a day the lighthouse wasn't open. That didn't deter us from wandering around the beautiful and historic grounds. It was kind of sad. The lighthouse sits on land that was given to a helpful native American and his heirs into perpetuity,...More

Located above lighthouse beach along the shore of Lake Michigan, adjacent to a lovely mansion that has served as the National Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity and subsequently as the Evanston Art Center, one can enjoy a cozy "Indian-style Fire Pit" and breathtaking views of...More

Check out this historical lighthouse and the visitor center next to it. There is a great deal of information at the visitor center about the history of the lighthouse. The visitor center itself is a classic piece of building. Also wander around the beach of...More

We had a wonderful tour and loved the history behind this place. The dedication of volunteers is amazing.

We couldn't get the lighthouse tour but the nearby beach and surrounding ground/park is worth spending couple of hours. Parking fills up quickly in summer months so we had to find street parking nearby (which wasn't too difficult). Beach is small and has an entry...More

It's a beautiful neighborhood. I just happen to saw the lighthouse and stop by there. It wasn't open but you could go the beach (behind the lighthouse). It is peaceful. There is a small park for kids too.

Although this light house wasn't open when I got there, just walking on the grounds was beautiful and well kept. I was just visiting the area and wasn't sure about parking so I just parked on the street. I will be sure to return when...More

The light house itself is lovely to look at, but the signage is terrible - non existent - and the buildings around are pretty dilapidated and there is nothing to explain why it is there and what it is doing.

We were driving back to Northwestern on Sheridan from Wilmette when we saw this lighthouse. Stopping, we discovered that it is attached to a marine museum, a terrific beach and what appears an old mansion now used for an art space. Unfortunately it is only...More

Yes, there is $5 fee when we visited. It's only open on Sat./Sun. 2-3-4pm. The lighthouse cannot take more than 6 people up there. I am not sure it is still open after September, you need you call to ask. But you can always... More
