Another bit of history in the middle of no where!

This was a short side trip one afternoon and worth it! The history plaques got you to understand the whole area worked together. Was a hot profession if you stoked ovens!

Wish the furnace wasn't sealed inside, but still informative and a clean area. More of a drive than expected, but wasn't disappointed

No description of the attraction or its importance to the history of the area. Seems to be neglected.

We found this location to be easy to find - some places said it was hard to find. The furnace was much bigger than I had envisioned. Make sure you read up on it before going - there isn't any descriptive signage about it.

On of the nicer preserved Furnaces in the area. Pretty little park with an area that the "locals" swim at.

It's OK, neat to see, but the gravel roads you have to take to get there should be taken into consideration. Roads start off paved but turn to gravel for most of the way. Some nice scenery along the way but not a must see.

This is a recreation and there's nothing more to see here, just a big grassy area. Skip it. There are better places to visit in the area that are all natural. Even this truly lacks in historical relevance.

My family and I visited the Iron Furnace while we were in Shawnee. This is a FREE attraction and worth seeing. The roads leading to it aren't the best, and at times we thought that we were on someone's driveway, however once we were there we were glad that we made the trip. This is the first iron furnace in... More

Another great out-of-the-way stop in Shawnee National Forest. A quiet place for a picnic or just to relax.
