The Lookingglass Theatre Company seeks to redefine the limits of theatrical experience and to make theatre exhilarating, inspirational, and accessible to all.Through theatre, which invites, even demands, interaction with its audience, the company's goal is to fire the imagination with love, to celebrate the human capacity to taste and smell, weep and laugh, create and destroy, and wake up where we first fell --- changed, charged and empowered.

The theater is tucked into the Water Tower on Michigan. There are no bad seats; all have a clear view. The staging and cast are excellent. I was very impressed when I saw Hard Times. Lots of talent on display. I don't live in Chicago,...More

We have attended three outstanding productions at this theater and can't say which we enjoyed the most. Right across from Michigan Avenue's Water Tower, makes it most convenient for Magnificent Mile visitors...but more than the convenience, Looking Glass provides creative productions filled with talented performers...staged...More

We saw a truly marvelous production of Hard Times put on in collaboration with Actors Gymnasium. The acting, the set and lighting, the music, and the stage gymnastics and rope and arial performances were awesome. The theatre is intimate and centrally located for convenient meal...More

On a brief trip to Chicago, sought out Lookingglass Theatre because of previous wonderful experience (Arabian Nights). Love the book, which I had never seen performed, and was not only satisfied, but wonderfully entertained! Wonderful, mostly young actors (and a few solid veterans!) who gave...More

The Looking Glass production of Dickens' "Hard Times" engendered for me a new level appreciation of Dickens' genius, as well as furthering the well-established tradition of on-stage acrobatics for which Looking Glass is famous.

Hard Times was a terrific theater experience while visiting Chicago. I went there twice this year, also May, and not disappointed. Easy to find and no bad seats. They make theater that matters

Went to the show, Hard Times, to see a family member who was in it; but from the moment it started, we knew we were in for high quality theater, with excellent acting in all parts, and imaginative staging. Beautiful location in the historic water...More

The theatre setting is special and this play is one of the best you will see. Every time we come to Chicago we attend a play at the Lookingglass Theatre.
