Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We attended Catholic Mass here. When we walked into the Cathedral we were impressed with the beautiful architecture. They have tours after the 8:00 and 10:00 Sunday masses.

The ceiling in this church is jaw dropping. The restoration of the cathedral inside an out is a triumph in simplicity. Gone are the heavy statuary associated with man Catholic Churches...instead serene symmetry . Tip If you attend an am mass on Sunday and they announce a short after mass tour...stay and hear all about the building's history. Well worth a visit if you are into church architecture. Cheers

Very impressive Catholic cathedral built in 1874 just after the big city fire , but renovated a few times since then . Look at the colored windows and the letters IHS on the ceiling which stands for Jesus in Greek .

Worth a quick stop to see the beauty of this Cathedral. Popped in midafternoon and was wonderful to sit and reflect for a few moments.

Sunday Mass at this classical 19th century church was splendid. The building, rebuilt after the Fire in Limestone with a wooden roof like an inverted ship's hull, picked out with thousands of gold-leaf highlights, is a wonder in itself. An ill-advised "updating" from 1969 diminishes the impact of the architecture regrettably--pictorial stained glass windows were replaced with now-dated abstract designs--but is still well worth a visit.

Celebrated Mass here while on vacation in Chicago. Such a beautiful Cathedral. Easily located within walking distance of most hotels, I’d recommend touring the cathedral or attending Mass here while in town.

While my wife was shopping on the Magnificent Mile, I wandered west to see two important Cathedrals in Chicago. I was primarily looking for the St James Episcopal but only a block away was the Catholic cathedral, Holy Name Cathedral. I only got to see the exterior beautiful stone structure surrounded by high-rises.

Whenever we are in Chicago on a Sunday, we always attend the 10:30am mass. Feels like attending a mass in a church in Europe. Not sure what is going on with the protestors in front of the Cathedral, they have been there every time there is a mass. They don’t harass or bother anyone, but it’s a bit strange.

One of the most impressive Cathedrals I've visited in the US.
Not that big, but amazingly beautiful - fantastic stone exterior, wood interior is mind blowing along with fantastic stained glass in Gothic style.
