On a weekend getaway to Chicago, we visited the Conservatory solely to see their Flowers of Monet gardens. And despite it being mid-October, we were pleasantly surprised at how many flowers were still in bloom. Having visited Monet's gardens in Giverny, we could see the efforts of the Conservatory gardeners to recreate the beauty of those gardens and bring them to life for visitors here. Love the arch and the living wall and even the water lily pond pots!! The signage explaining the various flowers and how Monet grew the same and painted them were excellent. Kudos to all involved in creating this beautiful garden as an adjunct to the Monet and Chicago exhibition at the Art Institute.…

With the indoor greenhouses closed due to the pandemic, a trip to the Observatory means a short stroll through the outdoor gardens. So, my review only reflects the outdoor portion of the Garfield Park Observatory. Yes, the Observatory is a nice respite from walking around the streets of Chicago but the outdoor plantings are limited. There is easy access to the Observatory from the Chicago Transit Authority’s green line and access to the outdoor gardens was free. I especially liked the dahlias and the water lilies. My advice would be to wait until the greenhouses reopen for a visit.…

Beautifully tucked away in Garfield Park looms the beautiful Garfield Conservatory. It is an unexpected treat and truly a rewarding experience inside when walking through the various climates of foliage. It is especially beautiful during the Christmas holiday, and guaranteed to impress! If you haven't visited it yet, shame on you, because it is a real treat!
