Finally made it in the front door after walking by over the years. It was very disappointing because there wasn't a gallery from their permanent collection, just large exhibits that were interesting, but not particularly impressive.. In their defense, they are remodeling an area and restaurant.

I've always enjoyed visiting this museum and it is easy to do so as it is just a few blocks off Michigan Ave. I'm a fan of contemporary art but no matter where you go it can be hit or miss based on the exhibits at that time. Nevertheless I've never been disappointed at Chicago MOCA. The other nice thing... More

The exhibits at this location are not extensive, but they often have something amazing and exclusive. Plus, entry is free, so there is no risk walking in after or before a stroll through the park.

The museum is under construction so only able to see a portion of their collection but that was enough to cross this museum off my list of things to ever see again. Most of the stuff on display was low quality. On the bright side the descriptions for each piece were very humorous and sometimes downright hilarious. What a scam!

Our 16-year-old son wanted to see the MOCA this time, and it was right by our hotel, so we went, not sure what to expect. We happened to hit it just right--on the second Saturday of every month, families are admitted for free. We were thankful for the security guard who advised of the inappropriate content for our 12 year... More

As a Chicago native. I spent years and years visiting the Art Institute and knew little about the Museum of Contemporary Art. The Art Institute is so renowned and as so much to offer, that I think the Museum of Contemporary Art tends not to be a priority for tourists and museum-seekers. I finally took the time to visit this... More

This little gem of a museum had one large exhibit (on Merce Cunningham) and several smaller exhibits. The exhibits are nicely displayed and curated. The building is light and airy and overlooks a small park in front and looks out toward Lake Michigan in the back. The museum store was large with a huge variety of interesting gifts.

Staying in Streeterville

Neighbourhood Profile
Streeterville
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
