This is a must see attraction as the facade pays homage to the various architectural styles found on Chicago buildings. The auditorium hosts many interesting civic and literary events. There are various collections on the different floors.

Impressive. The building is magnificent and when you start going up and watching all the floors, plenty of books, you know you are surrounded by tons of knowledge. Highly recommendable to visit the last floor (Winter Garden). Amazing

If you're looking for a quiet spot to take a minute and relax with a book or some work or just sit quietly with your traveling partner to rest, the atrium is absolutely beautiful.

The Harold Washington Library is the central library for Chicago. It is located in the South Loop. It was completed in 1991 and named after former Chicago mayor, Harold Washington.

Walking around town I couldn't resist going in to explore this beautiful building. Be sure to go all the way to the 9th floor to see the breathtaking atrium with its beautiful view of the city. What a architectural gem!

This library was near our hotel so we walked past it many times. We went inside to view it also. The owl gargoyles are very interesting.

We visited briefly because the architecture caught our attention. It was fantastic inside. We would have liked more time to explore. It's more than just books.

Chicago should be proud of this library center. Expansive, nine floors with both elevators and escalators, the building is massive and has incredible space for bookshelves as well as nooks to work in or sit without much disturbance. Security is always present but not intrusive...More

I am an admitted Geek. I write, read, play music and immerse myself into science and the arts every minute of every day that I can to keep myself sane and balanced in this wacko world we leave in. This library was Chicago's foray into...More

We decided to check out the Library and found great Artwork on display. The Installation over the escalators of dog tags from every soldier killed in Vietnam was amazing! We didn't expect it, and it was very moving. The building is lovely and we were...More

Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a
good starting point to sample the city's energy and
flavor. This central business district boasts
Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier
shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep
your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many
photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of
Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of
