I actually stopped and smelled the flowers during summer. Being a repeat traveler to this part of town myself, I can attest that with every change of season and holidays, the experience you feel walking down this avenue is never the same (in a good way). I've found myself varying my pace depending on the mood I'm in. Some days... More

My baby's first trip outside PR and even though it has been a little chilly for our liking it has been an amazing experience. Would recommend to anyone looking to visit Chicago for a sightseeing or just shopping

I don't get it. It's a street renowned for its shopping, but I get the same experience (with much the same shops) walking through an airport. Tiffany? Cartier? Bulgari? Buillon? Go to Milan airport if you like this kind of ostentatious crap. They have a better selection.

This was an interesting walk. High end stores and at the end of the street there is a tunnel to walk under the highway to cross under to the beach. Wish we had traveled after the long weekend in May so that the beach would have been warmer. The also had places to change into swim suits there.

This is the best street in Chicago for shopping, people watching, dining, and bars. It is easy to walk, and all the buildings are beautiful. Take a stroll for free!

We frequently visit this area of Chicago. There are plenty of shopping, dining, and lodging opportunities. Always feel safe walking around at night.

LA's Rodeo Drive, Houston's Galleria, NYC's Fifth Avenue, heck Waikiki in Oahu: they all have, more-or-less, the same high-end retail. Saks, North Face, Nordstrom, whatever. Nothing about the shopping per se will stand out (thanks globalization!). That said, you're doing it in Chicago which means that the street-level shopping is not compressed as it is in NYC nor requiring a... More

This is a lot of walking (not a bad thing) and some amazing shops along the way. It was under construction when we were there, (Oct of 2015) but there was still plenty to see. Make sure you have comfortable shoes on as you will be walking a lot. I don't recommend driving around, just find a place to park... More

Michigan Ave is our GO TO destination in Chicago. Our family makes a few trips to Chicago during the year. We make this area our parking destination because it is central to most everything we want to see on a given day trip. We usually start with a Starbucks visit and stroll around the Bean for a few pics. In... More

Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale.
