I was surprised how beautiful park it is. On one sunny afternoon we just decide to go over there and see. Fallen leafs everywhere, colorful trees and amazing views on river. Definitely will come back and check it out in different season.

Blind sites are allocated via a drawing in the late summer. But anybody is allowed to use a vacant blind on a first come first served basis if the owner is not present a... More

The Kankakee state park is a great place to walk. The peaceful park is a great place to walk, bike ride, picnic, fish...there is an 11 mile beautiful path. I go almost every day. There are also some beautiful cliffs on the river that flows into the Kankakee river which you can get to from the park

The campgrounds were closed during our visit, and there were not many visitors so we were treated to a quiet bike ride. It was a beautiful day, and it was a little sad that more people weren't enjoying the park.

Once this park was a wonderful recreational attraction in Illinois. It had two RV facilitates which are now closed. The ten mile trail is poorly maintained. There is dangerous debris and fallen trees are not removed for weeks until someone complains. The main park area is mowed regularly but the concession stand is closed. The state is no longer adequately... More

Today is an absolutely gorgeous day outside and I could not have been more happy with the experience I created a Kankakee River State Park. If you are looking to get out and enjoy the beauty of nature, this is the place to go. You will not regret it.

This place is very large, and there are many parking areas, so you can park along the River. There were places in the park with swings, slides, and picnic tables, and if you just wanted to, you could just sit near the river and enjoy the view. It is quite scenic along the river. The only problem was there is... More
