Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My traveling companion and I recently played Bearna Golf Club while visiting Galway from the USA. We wanted to experience a traditional Irish golf course and had the best time! The scenery was amazing, the course was in great shape, it was a good challenge and the rate was fair. Cathal from the pro shop was very welcoming and did a great job of helping us to reserve a tee time in advance. He made sure that we had rental clubs and all of the equipment we needed upon arrival.

Great day at Beanra Golf Club. Pat, set us with rental clubs and a cart. He couldn't have been more welcoming. Course was challenging but fair. Excellent condition with superb greens. Great views of the Bay. Members were so friendly and warm topped off with a Guiness and Sandwich at the pub.

Great course in very good condition, greens were superb. Take plenty of balls as the gorse and ditches are waiting for you .
Julia who runs the catering provided us (48) a fantastic meal without any fuss. Burger/fish meal was second to non and served with a smile.
Excellent.

Fantastic day out. The course was in perfect condition, scenery was immense and ‘Cathail’ had us in great spirits before Tee-off. If your around Galway/South Connemara and enjoy a round of golf then you can’t go far wrong with Bearna Golf Course.

terrific course. really enjoyed the challenge of it. got good advice from the pro on the way out - spare the driver! lots of places to lose a ball but if you keep it in play there are some smashing holes out there, in particular the last few. some lovely food afterwards in the restaurant too. a great end to my staycation

Having played this course on a regular basis over the last number of years, I'm of the opinion that Bearna Golf Course has developed into one of the finest in the west of Ireland if not anywhere.
It is a very good test of golf & if you walk off the 18th green having played to your handicap, I say well done. With generous fairways, lots of hazards including water, sand & natural rough culminating in 1st class large sand based greens it is indeed far from a a good walk spoiled, in fact its on the contrary. The course set among the natural clothed heather & furze moorland a few short miles west of Galway City with vistas overlooking Galway Bay, the Burren & the Aran Islands, its a treat to behold.
You golfers should take up this unique chalenge

I had the pleasure to stumble across this jewel of a course last week whilst on holiday.set in spectacular beauty, this course is a must to play.

On my golfing journey I look for holes to contribute to make up my perfect course, unusually Bearna has two, the 15th and 16th off the whites.
I had a wonderful welcome from the owner and the professional, a credit to golf.
The clubhouse is a wonderful place to watch the sun go down on Galway Bay.

15 & 16...not easy holes but definitely two of our best. Great views from the 16th tee box.

Played an Open Comp for only 10 Euro!!!!!!!!! Incredible value...the course is great with a couple of stunning holes. The 2 members we played with & the staff were very helpful.

Definitely recommend the golf but after we went into the clubhouse- soup & wheaten wasn't good! Also needs a good lick of paint & freshening up!!

My father and I decided at the last minute to squeeze in some golf on our recent trip to Ireland. The course is beautiful and was created in a very tasteful manner, kudos to the golf architect who put it together! The fairways and greens are in great shape, and the views on the course are amazing. The holes are no walk in the park, so make sure to take your time and hit the ball straight :) Most importantly, the staff was incredibly friendly. It is a family run show. Cahill in the club house set us up for our round and after the round we enjoyed talking to his colorful father Pat, who is the club director. Pat was on the Gaelic football team for Galway that won three titles 1964,1965,1966. We had a good chuckle when we went to the Galway City Museum later in the day and saw pictures of his younger self on the wall in the section that commemorates the team. All in all, come golf here for a great Irish golf experience!
