I've never been to the Taj Mahal in India. I have been to the B'ai Temple in Wilmette. But I've never seen anything like BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir off Highway 59 in northwest suburban Bartlett. Opened in 1953, it is a traditional Hindu place of worship built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. It is a religious sect headed by Pramukh... More

We stopped by here on our journey through Illinois and were happy we did. A beautiful building and a peaceful place. We were lucky enough to go on a sunny day, so we really loved it. We didn't go inside, but still were very happy about our visit.

If you are interested in other cultures, please visit this site. The architectural detail is worth it if nothing else. The staff is so friendly and helpful, eager to share their religion and culture. It's free too!

Don't visit this temple only for religious purpose. It is a piece of architectural excellence. The carved marbles, transported in pieces from India, assembled without cementing material to build the extremely beautiful building is a must visit place in Chicago area.

This is one of the most beautiful Mandir I've seen. The carvings on the marble and the wood is a must watch. Has a gift shop and a nice vegetarian Cafe too.

Watch and experience temple's amazing sculpture in white marble, marvelous stone and woodwork. All the sculptures were done in India in Italian and Indian marble and wood and assembled in just 18 months, an unbelievable task. Attend the Arti to experience unique inner piece. You can enjoy authentic Indian food in the canteen. We liked outdoor fountains and watched the... More

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir or BAPS in Bartlett, IL is such a beautiful place. The grounds are huge and the mandir is so impressive. I've been twice and the first time there was a rather large event taking place so it was quite crowded. The second time was on a Saturday and it was much quieter with only a few... More

Another beautiful creation from BAPS! The quite surrounding, amazing sculpture in white marble and the way the daity is kept for worship are to be experienced. The Arthi is out of the world experience. You will have a very peaceful time during the visit. Do not miss the opportunity to go to the canteen and have authentic Indian food!
