We rode our Harley-Davidson motorcycle the length of the canyon and were amazed at the awesome and spectacular scenery. Make sure to have plenty of time to stop and view the canyon from many vewpoints.

Really fun rapids. Crazy clear water. Wildlife around and in the water. Decent camp spots along the river. Only negative is no camp fires at night. Go on weekdays if possible. On weekends there are a lot of loud power boats on the river. Unlike the grand canyon - you can do this one is 3 days:)

Visited Hell's Canyon in May. The entire area is so magnificent, you just have to see it to appreciate it. Rugged beauty mixed with plentiful wildlife.

We were on a road trip heading to Walla Walla Washington and stumbled on Hells Canyon. We took Highway 71 in from the South Side at Brownlee Dam to Copperfield, then took 39 towards Joesph. The views along the river towards Coppefield were unbelievable. The road was a twisty, slow, narrow ride....but one great ride. We took the turn out... More

We visited in early September. Weather was perfect. Not too hot; not too cold. School was started, so no crowds. Hells Canyon was peculiar. It's not a monument or park, so it's not as built up as they would be. Therefore, roads were narrow and winding, sometimes gravel, and facilities were limited. Since my wife is not in as good... Wild and beautiful area. You have to be adventurous to hike in since it's a distance from roads to the canyon picnic areas and campsites. Recreation is very much geared to rafting trips (up to 7 days), fishing boats, and jet boat excursions (not to be missed).

We did the 6 hour trip. The scenery was amazing, everything you have read or heard is true. Wonderful sightings of Big Horn mountain sheep and petroglyphs. A lovely stop @ an old farm with swim beach, Adirondack chairs, and a fruit orchard with sweet ripe figs to pick, assorted wild turkeys and deer milling about, and wonderful sunny weather.... More

White water rafting on the Snake River through Hells Canyon with the outfitter Hells Canyon Raft was a great trip. We did 4 nights, 5 days, white water rafting. Great with family including young kids to teenagers. They set-up tents and do heavy lifting and will help with logistics before and after your trip. Good food, nice staff. Mix of... More
