Lido
About
Protecting the Venetian Lagoon from the Adriatic Sea, this long and narrow barrier island beckons you to indulge in a relaxing day on its sandy shores. Tour the Lido on a rented bike and discover centuries-old locations suspended in time, like the Jewish Cemetery and the quaint Malamocco village. You can reach Lido by water bus from Venice’s old core, and it takes just over a couple of hours to hike end to end. Visit in the warmer months; the island comes to life in late August and early September when it hosts the prestigious Venice Film Festival. – Tripadvisor

In the Middle Ages it was known as the island of St. Nicholas. Since 1053, a Benedictine abbey has stood in the northern part, built to preserve the remains of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors. Located about 1 km from Venice, famous for its beaches. Every year in September, the Lido hosts the Venice Film Festival, the first ceremony of which was held in 1932.

The beach, the location and pretty much everything was amazing. Venice is beautiful but equally nice to stay on the Lido to have somewhere to relax, a beach, nice running route and not as busy as Venice. Great to travel from the Lido to many many places with ease at all hours too.

We used the Lido on Bike rental company and had a marvelous experience. The staff took ample time to explain to us how to use the bike and where to ride. Be aware: bikes in Lido are only allowed on the street like a car, not the sidewalk. We took a nice ride in the double bike based on a map provided by the company and even stopped to enjoy the beach for a while. When we returned the bike, the staff gave us an excellent restaurant recommendation to end our visit on the island. I highly recommend using Lido on bike!

We visited the Lido twice, arriving at the (only?) free beach mid afternoon on both days, having had an explore of Venice beforehand.

Super location and very relaxing.

Tips… remember that the water buses cost a small fortune (7.50 euro for a 75 minute ticket) and you have to pay for everything at the free beach (WCs, shower etc)

Decaying, old looking beach resort. Simmilar to the cheap, family beaches. Dusty, dusty. Very strange since Lido di Venezia is otherwise renowned and presented as very interesting, posh, etc.

With only a 10/15 minute boat journey from Venice I would stay here and avoid the crowds. Had a laid back, more classy and easy feel about the place. It has a gorgeous beach with paid and free beach, go early, gets busy. Great places to eat and the villas looked amazing to stay in.

bring sandals because the sand is a bit coarse. costs 1 euro to use either the shower or the bathroom which is unfortunate. Showers are not private, open for all to see.

Lovely for an early morning walk and empty at this time of year. Had a lovely paddle ,easy sandy stroll but slippy dunes to get onto the beach.

A relaxation day to give our feet a rest from all the sightseeing!
A water taxi to the lido & an easy 10 minute walk to the beach.
We had the option of the free public beach or to pay €18 for two sunbeds & a sun umbrella, also included was free use of the changing rooms, toilet & shower. We chose the sunbeds & had the choice of position, just like choosing a seat at the theatre, great idea!
The sunbeds were well laid out to allow for social distancing, it was very clean & it was quiet all day, fantastic!
A great day out & feet well rested for the following day!
