The gardens, located next to the Old Idaho State Penitentiary, are an Idaho gem. The garden was established in 1984 and operates without government funding. There are several themed gardens, including an Idaho native garden, a rose garden, English garden and even one featuring plants matching those collected by the Lewis and Clark expedition between Great Falls, Montana, and The... In the spring, everything is blooming, in summer the weather is beautiful and this place is fragrant, in the fall the leaves are all changing colors, and in the winter they have Winter Garden-a-Glow.

I don't come here to often, but they make great day's out with my grandma. It's a low key, relaxing, stress free, outing.

Visit every year and always enjoy the beautiful location! The Idaho Wine Festival event is awesome during the Summer, a must to go to.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit on Christmas Day. Lots of snow on the ground. The lighting was mind blowing. Every tree and shrub lit up with beautiful lights. We had hot apple cider and snicker doodles while standing around the fire barrel, listening to Christmas music. Quite magical.

The children as well as the adults will love this winter wonderland of lights. Walk around and you'll be amazed at the artistry of lights and colors. You'll eventually meet up with Santa and a Reindeer that you can pet. Of course be prepared for cold weather. To warm up there is hot chocolate available.

As locals we have been many times. It is a different experience than typical gardens which tend to be more lush, and focused on plants. The Idaho garden is a completely outdoor experience, with lots of walking (including an opportunity to hike on dirt trails in the foothills). It is a more arid garden focused on natural plants. Also the... More

The Botanical garden does a great job in offering all 4 seasons. During the Holiday, A Winter-A-Glow, in the spring an amazing display of bulbs, summer the rose garden is fantastic among all their other treasurers and fall a blanket of textures that can only come from thoughtful planning. A beautiful oasis just outside of town.

Went here for a company picnic and what a great place to hang out! The paths are clear and easy to navigate and it feels like a little getaway without really going anywhere! If you love the outdoors, this is a place to experience! Highly recommend to any outdoor lover!

We made a short stop at the Idaho Botanical Gardens and wish we had planned better. The 50 acre park, which contains about ten separate gardens is well kept and organized and has lots to see and do. Next time we'll bring a picnic and spend the whole afternoon. The botanical garden is located on the Old Penitentiary grounds and... More
