We went in late Sept. and fall was starting to cool things down but beautiful views and some wildlife. Relatively close to Boise and spectacular views of the Snake from Several hundred feet above the rim and right down on the banks.

It's so quiet out there. In the nearly two hours we were out in the canyon area, we saw 2-3 card. The natural beauty of the scrub desert is amazing. While we saw few birds of prey at the time we went, it was ok....More

We took some time to visit here ambling along the road and through the wildlife conservation area, stopping to view the scenery and glimpsing birds, ground squirrels and a cat in a drain! Even before getting to the actual entrance to the refuge and canyon...More

The hills get very green during the spring time. Spring came early this year so they look really nice.

Great views of the Snake River and canyon, and yes, there are a lot of birds of prey around :-) We hiked a couple of hours along the river. Very nice.

If you like birds, you will see hundreds of different kinds. Plan on staying there around 3 hours. You could go thru it again, and see things you missed.

Amazing creation you'll want to see, as you stand in awe overlooking and free. Stunning mountains reach for the sky, and deep cold water flows on by. Birds are singing up in the trees, their beauty abundant for you and me.

We truly enjoyed our visit. Very informative, the staff was knowledgeable and very pleasant. We were able to enjoy the show, tour the grounds and get great pictures all in about an hour and a half.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Anyone knows if we camp out end of August/early September in the Canyon, will it be hot and buggy (no shade)? How about floating a canoe, is the water level of the Snake River high enough at this time of the year?
