We parked at Esom Hill, close to the GA/AL border. We rode the Comet east to Cedartown mi53 (see my reviews of other sections of Comet), then turned around and rode west to Borden Springs. 27mi roundtrip. Trail is concrete in GA, then turns to...More

(The fourth is a couch potato who loves the trail but would like it better if she could hitch her big sister to a wagon...) We have walked our dogs here many times. Our two big dogs love to swim in Nickajack Creek. It is...More

I like this trail, but there are some areas that look unsafe, especially around dusk and dark. I suggest going with a friend.

We are from Wisconsin, so we rented bikes from Siver Comet Cycles. We reserved our bikes. When we showed up there was a little paperwork, a quick bike fitting, and we were on our way. We headed west and the trail was a little busy...More

We actually got on the trail at a parking lot in Powder Springs. We could have gone left toward Smyrna (about 9 miles to the beginning). But we went right, away from it figuring that would be less busy. And on a GORGEOUS day it...More

We visited on a Saturday morning thinning it would be a nice walk but there were so many runners and bikers pushing us out of the way that we ended up leaving. The trail was super busy and it was like trying to walk on...More

Very quiet and relaxing further from the city. If your looking to hike with the birds, butterflies and an occasional cyclist...this area of the trail is for you. Very shaded by trees in this area.

It is a paved path that goes for miles and miles. In good weather there are always enough people out to feel safe. Flat and shaded. The shaded part is wonderful in the middle of the summer.

I've tried the section of the trail that runs parallel to the East-West Connector and I can tell you that it is busy, but not crowded. Especially on the weekends and when it's nice outside. It's nice for biking and walking. I see several people...More

There are several restaurants near the trail periodically. The Dallas, Hiram, and Rockmart, GA, areas have several easily accessible on a bike. Hotels - where it parallels 278 closely you may find them within a mile or two.

As far as the time of year I would say fall, but the trail is shaded with trees along the trail. So, you aren't in a lot of sunlight. If you want to know the best time to go when the really fast bikers are less likely to be... More
So excited to see your itinerary! We are going on a similar trip. We thought to start at the Silver Comet Depot and would like to make it to Cedartown for the 1st night. Saw you rode to Anniston, but came back to Jacksonville for the night, was wondering why? Can you give us suggestions on towns for the nights? We want to leave early on a Thursday and be back to Smyrna around lunch on Sunday. We are weekend riders-about 24-30 miles per weekend and this will be our first time on a biking trip. In our mid-50's. Any suggestions are welcome!!

So sorry. It was the Country Hearth Inn in Cedartown. Didn't want to send you looking for something that wasn't there.
