Spivey Hall, located on the campus of Clayton State University, is a 400-seat, acoustically-superior performing arts venue that has presented the best in jazz and classical music to the metro Atlanta area since 1991. Its celebrated concert series receives regular national and international attention as one of America's finest, and the Hall's acoustics and design are routinely lauded by patrons, pundits and performers. Thanks to frequent appearances on American Public Media's "Performance Today," as heard on public radio stations across the country, the hall has earned a national reputation while also reaching an international audience through exposure in such publications as BBC Music magazine and International Arts Manager. The Hall also routinely receives superb accolades from the noted artists it annually presents. "Spivey is the best of the newer small halls in America," says concert pianist Steven Blier, while jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis believes "Spivey Hall is the most fantastic little performance hall I have played - ever!" In addition to a world-renowned concert series, Spivey Hall has an innovative approach to education-outreach, which has resulted in the formation of the award-winning Spivey Hall Children's Choir and the newer Spivey Hall Young Artists. Its Young People's Concerts series won the prestigious Abby Award for arts education in Atlanta in 1998.

Spivey Hall is located in my hometown at Clayton State University. It looks fairly large in pictures, but in fact is a small, intimate performance venue with excellent acoustics! There are no bad seats and they bring in quite a diverse slate of performers in addition to it being a venue for the music groups at the University. One season... More

Acoustically, this is a fabulous theater. We heard Chanticleer, which is always on the edge of perfection. As usual, the place was sold out. Check the schedule and go--you will enjoy the building as much as the performance.

This is such a special venue on the Clayton State Campus. Spivey Hall is a small venue seating about 400 people (best row is "H"), with not a bad seat in the house. This is their 25th year and they are selling out concerts Additionally, the setting is beautiful, around a lake and on a nice, small college campus. Great... More

This is their 25th year anniversary and they are having lots of concerts. We are going to 10 of them. Last night we went to a free Cowboy Songs Concert there. It is a perfect small venue music concert hall. It is located on the edge of a beautiful lake that even has swans (and geese). Parking is close and... More

Perhaps the best music venue in which I have heard concerts! It is a small hall, about 350 seats. The acoustics are fantastic. They have major sponsorship from a benefactor (Dr. Spivey), so they get world class musicians and groups and sell tickets for affordable prices; $25-75. It is a super bargain for the caliber, acoustics, and close view. We... More

When you enter the lobby of Spivey Hall for the first time you are in awe of the great chandelier, the beautiful furnishings, the elegant staircase. The hall was conceived by Dr. and Emily Spivey who never lived to set foot in it. But, their legacy lives on in one of the finest, if not the best, small concert halls... More
