We went there expecting a one-room exhibit and left in awe. It starts with authentic period dresses, furniture, and a semi-recreation of what a station would have looked like with real artifacts. There is the sad story of Mary Phagan, who is interred in the Citizen's cemetery, and the docent has vast knowledge of everything regarding this city. You move... More

This made our second visit to this museum and, as before, it was a delight. Nice touches throughout. Given that my wife and I both write Civil War history, and this museum gave considerable attention to that period, we can be a tough audience to please. We were very pleased, indeed, and highly recommend it.

Whether you're a youngster or oldster, you'll find something that catches your eye & interest at this museum. From the military uniforms & weapons, tools used, historical stories even about the building for the Museum and its role in the Great Train "stealing" history, there's something for everyone.

We enjoyed the general history exhibits, the music machines, the Baby Boomers generation exhibits, but the most extensive collections related to military history of all wars with special attention to Marietta's role in the Civil War. The docents were very knowledgeable. When we went, Feb 2016, admission was $7 per adult, and we felt it was well worth the price.

My husband and I were very glad that both the Holiday Inn desk clerk and the J. R. Crickets waiter suggested that we visit here. It was worth it. The docent was a wealth of information. Gun collectors ought to visit to see the extensive collection that is on display.

The Marietta Museum of History is a wonderful visit into the history and life in Marietta. The staff is helpful and friendly. They add a lot of background history to the displays and exhibits which enriches the experience. The museum presents the history of the area from the Creeks and the Cherokees to the present. Civil War and the Great... More

Visited this museum yesterday with my daughter. So much history (local, state & country) is packed into this building it can take at least 2hrs to see and explore. It has 2 floors but most of the memorabilia is on the 2nd floor. My favorite section was the military: loved the weapons and uniforms from WW1 to Desert Storm to... More

I visited the museum with a couple friends of mine back in January while I was in town and we stopped by the Marietta Museum after lunch one day. The museum itself is in a really interesting old building which used to be a hotel before the Civil War and served as a Union hospital at the end of the... More
