Traveling on U.S. 27 near Lumpkin, Georgia if you keep your eyes open for some not-so-obvious road signs, you can divert to the West about 8 miles and experience what has been called the largest canyon east of the Mississippi River: PROVIDENCE CANYON. Let's be...More

Not knowing what to expect, I wore pretty lite color open toe sandals on my hike down in the canyons. When I saw the red color of the creek bed and the water, I thought my shoes and feet would be doomed. This was in...More

We visited Providence Canyon while RVing at Florence Marina State Park. Definitely worth spending a 1/2 day at the Canyon. The hike to the bottom is well worth the steep climb (.25 mile) back up to see the Canyon walls close up. Not sure I...More

Went here with my family (kids 1 to 11). The walk was very manageable for the children (the 1 year old was in a baby carrier with mom). We took the 3 mile white blaze trail at the park. The walk down was easy and...More

This is only a few hours drive from us, so not terribly out of our way. I don't think I'd want to drive a long way to it. The loop trail leads from the visitor center, down a hill, across the trails into the canyon...More

We had never heard of Providence Canyon and our B&B host strongly recommended that we go there. It was great advice! This place is absolutely beautiful. It is like a mini Grand Canyon with colorful geologic formations. We hiked down into the canyons and it...More
