I definitely think it is worth a visit to the Providence Canyon. Unfortunately, when my husband and I visited, we weren't prepared to hike, he had on loafers and I had on sandals!! I understand there is an easy trail around the rim of the canyon (wish we could have taken it.) There are two trails, one is 3 miles,... More

Called the Little Grand Canyon, it's not far off Hwy 27 in southwestern Georgia. Highway 27 is a great four lane drive from Columbus GA to Tallahassee, FL. The soil is beautifully colored pink, orange, red and purple. You can walk along the rim and see different parts of the canyon from vantage points or you can hike down into... More

What a delight! We love geological, rock and mountainous features and Providence Canyon is a real eye pleaser. We might be vertically challenged but my wife and I hiked the 3 mile canyon trail in style! Something that you don't often see are the bright white terra ferma spires that populate this gorge. It was equally fun to meet friendly... More

Neat little day trip to one of Georgia's state parks. Interpretive Center was not very helpful, and the washrooms are dirty. The park itself looks a little bit run down. But nonetheless it still worth a day trip. Interesting to see how poor farming practices devastated a community in relatively short period of time.

This has been a dry year in Georgia and the colors in the mountains weren't spectacular, so a buddy and I thought we thought we would try the southern part of the state. Providence Canyon is an interesting stop and we saw some lovely views. The 'canyon' isn't tall nor is it a very difficult hike (we took the 3... More

My husband and I walked partial parts of the trail. Very relaxing. The weather was awesome which made it even more peaceful. Nice place to picnic and relax.

Enjoyed hiking this canyon. 3 mile hike around the top rim. 9 canyons to hike down in the canyon. Also a 7 mile hike. But don't expect any help or refreshments, no one there and maps were empty.

Very interesting geology in an area I had not visited. I was not able to spend much time today, but great views from top. Interpretative Center is small, but has an interesting display about how the area's geology came about (not what I was expecting!). The hiking trail to the bottom is about a mile down. Also on the property... More
