We took our 6 and 9 year old along the red trail which was, as promised, an easy hike down to the ruins. The ruins of the old factory were just lovely. All along the rest of the trail were places to play in the river. Very kid and dog friendly! There's a little museum/shop at the visitor center with... More

My husband I visited on a pleasant spring Saturday. The park was very crowded and parking was limited. We took the 1/2 mile walk to the old mill. Wide path but you need to watch your step because of exposed tree roots and rocks. Most of the "Red Trail" to the mill was either downhill or level but it was... More

Looking for some natural beauty and quiet? This is for you. Beautiful, well-tended park with a large reservoir and a long series of rapids on Sweetwater Creek near the site of an old mill from the pre Civil War era. Bring $5 for parking (cash is better or you must go to the visitor center to use plastic). Visitor center... More

Someplace we love to come and just enjoy looking at the water and being one with nature! There are places to fish, sit and talk, picnic, party or whatever you wish. The ducks make it extremely entertaining.

The Sweetwater Creek Park has one of the most modern "Green Buildings" in the USA but the total park is rustic and will offer you trails and sights that can take you back to how that area was before Gone With The Wind was published. The water is beautiful, the grounds provide activity for all ages. They have covered shelters... More

I enjoy my trips to Sweetwater Creek. My great grands really enjoy feeding the ducks. It is a very safe and clean place to take the family.

We love Sweetwater Creek for family hiking. You can choose from long hikes (5+ miles) to shorter ones (2 miles). The terrain can be tough, so look at a map, but the creek itself is cool, and we love the old mill (where they filmed The Hunger Games). Fun for families.

I've visited this park every weekend this month. We love the trails! If you want a scenic low intensity hike- I recommend the red trail. If you are a seasoned hiker- try your hand at the white trail. I loved it so much that I bought a state annual pass for $55 for unlimited visits until March 2018.

Sweetwater Creek is a beautiful park set on over 2,500 acres that includes an excellent Visitors Center. The center documents both the Civil War and early Native American artifacts. The trails are easy to moderate in difficulty, well marked and children will do just fine on them. There is a Civil War-era factory ruins that is beautifully set astride the... More
