Jekyll Island has a magic al of its own and it is close to other places you may want to explore as well. The historic district is especially beautiful with the many beautiful buildings and wonderful old trees. The sunsets over the Wharf can not be beat!

Get your map out and discover the Hidden Treasure of the South! Quaint, quiet and full of history and fun! So much is to be discovered here...This was the "winter home" to so many dignitaries of our past. The history is amazing and the scenery beautiful. Get started on your journey.

The staff are very knowledgeable about the history of the town. Take the trolley tour. It's worth it. Takes about an hour and a half

Awesome historic district with a ton of history. Get a guide or ask some locals about the different houses that line the Jekyll River. Worth the time and skeeters.

I am not at all into history. It is usually very boring to me. But the history of this island is truly amazing! Take the time to visit this area. I recommend taking one of the many tours. Like I said I don't like this stuff, but we went on 3 different tours, went to the museum, and I even... More

A must see! If possible, take a tour with a tour guide. Give yourself a few hours to ensure you are able to visit every area of the district. Bring a camera, you will want to capture the grounds and the all the various buildings. Some of the richest and most powerful American business tycoons of the late 1800's and... More

We had so much fun biking through the historic district. The place is beautifully kept. History everywhere, enjoyed stopping at the little shops and going in the museum. The old millionaires club house is huge and you can just imagine what it was like here back in the day it was built. The overhanging trees kept us cool from the... More

Jekyll Island was once a haven for the super-rich but is now accessible for the rest of us. The district is not a downtown as such. It is a row of mansions (called "cottages" by their wealthy former owners) as well as numerous small gift shops with island and vacation-related goods. Unfortunately the single bookstore in the area was closing.... More

If you like History you step back in time to the Downton Abbey period and the American Millionaires.
