Bike ride

We took a ride around the island stopping at various locations. Nice trails and great beaches to ride on. A good mix of history and beach.

To enjoy ruins like these ones you need to also love to read and keep up with history. Otherwise you just won't "see" what this house means in the greater scheme of things. Get acquainted with the Horton fam history first and then enjoy ur visit.

This is a must visit for every history buff. Disappointing that the house hasn't been restored more .Even with that being said the history around the house and graveyard across the street is still worth the visit

Great preserved ruins, especially for viewing "tabby" construction”. I enjoy comparing Tabby Construction between different parts of the Southeast. Easy to get there.

It's right on the Riverside Drive on the northwest part of the island...good markers for describing the life that was, the purpose of the buildings, who lived on the plantation, etc. You can walk through what was the primary plantation house and view its construction from a seashell/cement composition.

Along the bike path on the northwest side of the island. Numerous historical markers giving plenty of information. Family cemetery across the road. And down the creek is the site of Georgia's first brewery.

Drove right up to it. Interesting when you do the math and figure how long ago the island was settled. Not a long stop but the signs made for some great reading while we were there. Bike paths nearby were busy during our visit.

Very well preserved ruins. Great history lesson along the bike path or a great stop along the ride around the island! Very good picture of life on the island in the past. Information signs are very informative. Great stop

This stop along Riverview Dr is a great place to get out of the car, off the bike trail and explore, good for all ages, it shows a 18th century Tabby House remains and the cemetery across the road is a sure not to miss site too! Great Photo Site as well!!

This is the original house and it's amazing that it still stands (though there has been restoration over the years). For the times, this was a mansion. Located across from the Horton burial area and a very nice park.
