About
Quietly tucked away in the North Georgia mountains, sits a rare and special treasure. A botanical paradise fairly bursting with dogwoods, tulip magnolias, native azaleas, wild flowers, trillium, and of course, rhododendron. There are over 400 varieties of rhododendron - 3,000 plants in all. Welcome to the Hamilton Gardens, a truly enchanted spot, boasting the largest collection of rhododendron in the state of Georgia. Stroll tranquil pine bark trails as they wind through lush foliage. Drink in the stunning views of Lake Chatuge and breathtaking countryside, including the majestic rise of Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest peak.

Leisurely rhododendron walk
Mar 2021 • Solo
Barely a mile if you do the perimeter walk along Lake Chatuge. But will be absolutely gorgeous when the rhododendrons are in bloom. Pathway is a very springy wooded chip mulch, well maintained walk.

Quiet walking place
Oct 2020
There are several trails, and you can get right down to the lake. The leaves were just starting to change colors and we saw several interesting birds. It's a little out of the way, and nothing special, but a good way to spend an hour or so if you're visiting Hiawassee.

Beautiful Walk Through the Garden and Along the Lake
Jul 2020
This is a beautiful easy trail through the trees and along the lake. There wasn't very much blooming when we were there, but it was still enjoyable - would love to come back when flowers are in bloom.

Nice Little Garden Joint
Jul 2020 • Family
This is a very nice little garden joint and walking trails. The place is very clean and the restrooms were very very clean. The scenery is really nice; plants the trees and you can watch boats on the lake.

Little bit of heaven on earth

Great place to spend a couple of hours hiking through the property. Beautiful flowers and trees. Trails wind around property and along the lake. Very well kept and groomed. If you enjoy the natural beauty of nature you will definitely enjoy these gardens. Donations accepted. Don’t miss this treasure.

Scenic and easy walk through gardens with lake view!
Nov 2019 • Friends
I’ve come to Lake Chatuge every other Thanksgiving for many years and only this year found out about these gardens! Very glad I did! The gardens are adjacent to the north Georgia fairgrounds and open year round. Entrance fee is $2 honor system. There are several paths to choose from and the longest option is probably about a mile total. Beautiful lake views and nature observing benches throughout.

Went there in late October - many leaves were beginning to change - a few flowers were in bloom. A beautiful, very peaceful park.

We visited with our family. Even though things were not in bloom it was still a peaceful and beautiful experience. We enjoyed the time in the gardens.
