Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cayo Bolivar is the recent name of this atoll, which is also known as East Southeast Cay, or Court Town Cay. It's only 18 nautical miles from San Andrés Island. You can only get there by boat, but it is no longer accessible to tourists due to uncontrolled visits that put a lot of pressure on this fragile ecosystem.
There are three main cays or islands and they a nesting site for a variety of oceanic seabirds as well as turtles. Now a days it is only visited by local fishermen and residents of San Andrés.

It is a place worth going to. Unfortunately it is for closed periods. I recommend asking open dates to take advantage of visiting it. It is an hour by boat and they give full service that includes transfer and food plus open bar.

I went to Cayo Bolivar with a small group of Brazillian friends and we had a great time there enjoying the breathtaking landscape around the island. The color of the sea is a wonderful light blue and the water is calm and warm..Even the lizards there were blue. :) Cayo Bolivar is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been! A must-see in Colombia for sure.

This place is awesome. The only people there were us and a small military outpost with maybe 5 soldiers. The water is crystal clear and the sand is soft and white. I hear there are more people coming, but the only other people I've seen there were a couple of fishermen. We bought a couple of lobsters from them, went snorkelling around the cay, and then went back to San Andres.

Go week day, early morning, and low season. You should have it to yourself.

Unfortunally the cay is close, they start the promotion and a rush of people that start to visit cause a negative envitorment impact, so the cay is close becouse of that

Cayo Bolívar is indeed a beautiful place to spend the day, with clear waters and coral-reef sand. I'd like to recommend it but it was just too crowded to really enjoy it.

Unfortunately, the day I went there the number of tourists was huge. As soon as we got there, we ran to lay our towels under the bushes because there is no shade (unless you pay for it) and the sun is strong. At lunch time, you had to wait for free chairs and tables (if you didn't want to eat on the floor). Finally, they ran out of all drinks except for that Colombian apple soda drink... It seems this tour has become so popular that companies take more people than really recommended.

The snorkeling tour at the cay was just following a guy who took a blowfish and forced it to blow up and then used a knife to take a small octopus from a rock. Only to show them to us! First lesson of any snorkeling and diving tour: don't touch anything!!!!! I was really disappointed by that. The only interesting thing was swimming with sharks.

The ride to and from the cay can be rather tough with high waves. There is no dock at the cay, so you'll need help to get in and out of the boat.

This was an amazing exclusion. Despite the fact that everyone said the crossing would be rough - it really wasn't that bad. We saw flying fish on the way there. There is very little shade on the island - I recommend you bring something of your own - and lots of sun cream. We took our own snorkels, our tour guide said that we still had to pay to swim with the nursing sharks. This is not true - so don't be fooled. The sharks seemed to be at the back of the island the whole day, so it wasn't necessary to do the tour. The snorkelling is similar to the aquarium on San Andres - so I recommend skipping it and going to the sharks instead - as you won't see these near San Andres. An incredible day overall, with plenty of food and drink. Highly recommended
