If you want to get away for the day or a few days, Amicalola Falls State Park is a great place to visit. At the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain you will be surrounded by Mother Nature at her finest. Hike the hills, visit the tallest waterfall this side of the Mississippi and you can even stay at the lodge... More

We decided to bring our 9 year old son hiking for the first time and to enjoy a weekend of nature. We lucked out with great weather in the 50's; perfect for hiking. We are not athletes by any means of the imagination but the trail heading towards the falls had plenty of benches to help you get up and... More

The waterfall is beautiful and is the tallest in the state. Be prepared to climb a ton of stairs if you want to get to the top. Great way to get in your daily exercise!

We are an extended family here for a reunion. Took 70 year old grandparents and grandchildren from 5-15 years old. Was a great outing for all! Stairs and places to rest make this accessible to various levels of fitness.

The Falls were beautiful but even the Trek to the stairs with very steep and strenuous. The Falls were spectacular but not for the faint of heart. Instead of climbing you can drive to the top of the falls, a little scary to look over the rail.

We were on the road and had only one hour to spare at the State Park. That was not enough time to do it justice, but it was enough to be worth paying the $5 parking fee. We started at the excellent playground, which my four-year-old daughter loved. We pried her away from the playground to look at the snakes... More

I highly recommend visiting the Falls. The day hike on The Approach Trail was also an experience I will never forget.

Wonderful scenery and the views are just beyond words - and when they say "The Mountains are a Calling and I must Go" they really mean it when it comes to this place

Okay, this was one waterfall which had a pleasant wow factor. I particularly enjoyed walking two of the trails. First, there are two excellent starting points to see the falls, the top platform and the reflecting pool at the bottom, neither of which requires hiking and handicapped accessible. I did two trails: The west trail gives you a intimate view... More
