The Visitor Center had lots of information and was also very pretty to see. We were there in order to take the ferry to Sapelo Island and found all staff to be helpful and accommodating

If you are going to tour Sapelo (pronounced "sap-u-low") Island, you will want to begin at the Sapleo Island Visitor Center. Inside the visitor center, you will find informative displays of information about the flora, fauna, and Geechee people. In addition to maps and t-shirts,...More

Very informative visit to Sapelo Island! Took a ferry ride to the island and a bus tour that was run by one of the locals. Visited the lighthouse, and the beach, and got a ride around the island full of natural beauty and history!

Area was pretty, we missed being able to head over to the island, but they had a sample of tabby architecture available on site. Trails were closed but it was cool to use the telescope in the center to look at the birds.

You can't get to Sapelo island unless you take the ferry. Time and a river ride takes you back to a simpler time. The visitor's center is full of history and anecdotes about the history of this barrier island and the people who choose to...More

Spent the day at a private home on Sapelo Island. The visitors center offered a great history of the island. The beaches were sparkling clean and covered in shells. The ferry ride over was also very enjoyable.

You have to check for departure dates Wed and Sat and Times so check on line but the ferry over to Sapelo Island is worth it by itself. The tour of the island depends on the driver, but each has a slightly different route and...More

Came here for the day and it was beautiful and magical. No need to book tickets in advance for the ferry. You show up, it's only $5.00 for the round trip and the boat ride is incredible. About a half hour, you go up the...More

I thought the visitor center was nice with ample parking. They had displays that show where the beaches used be. Not all were at lower sea levels even during ice ages. A good place to learn interesting things.

No auto's on the passenger ferry. You need to be a resident to take an auto over. They take you on a tour of the island.
