Overview
More
Visitors are welcome year-round to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, the inspirational home of Georgia’s Trappist Monks. With more than 2,300 acres of contemplative space, the Monastery is less than an hour from Atlanta’s international airport. The new Monastic Heritage Center – a 17,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art museum – is educational, interactive and kid-friendly. There is also a bonsai garden, store and cafe. At the Abbey Gift Shop, which is the largest Christian bookstore in Georgia, visitors can purchase monk-made biscotti, fruitcake and fudge, all of which the monks sell in an effort to be self-sustaining and feed the local poor. You can also see the Norman Gothic architecture of the Abbey Church and take a quiet stroll along the lake, or spend time in prayer and meditation.

It is one of the most quiet places I've ever been to. Great idea for a day praying getaway and or family picnic after the evening prayers.

Beautiful grounds. Try to get there for the Worship service around noon. THen spend plenty of time in the gift shop. Great selection - especially around Christmas with their coffee and fudge and jams. Don't miss the bonsai garden = another great gift idea

It is out in the country a bit - as befits a desire to be somewhat removed from the world. And indeed you do leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind if you choose to make your way here. There is a beautiful...More

There are walking trails or you can walk around the beautiful grounds. There is a tour available or you can just pop into the church. It is serene and allows for reflection. There is also a café and gift shop. Take home some fruit cake!
