I heard the boat ride down the wakulla river was a site to go so I went. Was not disappointed. Saw many birds, gators, manatees and mullets jumping out of the water. They also have a swimming section of the park with a high diving board. Water crystal clear. Also a lodge on the premises built in 1937. Two restaurants... More

The park is quite lovely with all the cypress and moss. We took the boat ride on the river and saw more wildlife than we ever expected. All kinds of exotic birds live here, along with many gators, manatees, and fish. Our boat guide, Pat, was thoroughly fascinating and full of interesting facts. Take the boat ride. It is accessible... The setting is beautiful, but the service and food needs serious attention. It took almost an hour for our lunch to be delivered. I order the soup and sandwich combo. The half sandwich bread was cut into a 1/3 piece and a 2/3 piece. In additional the soup had spilled onto the plated and soaked the bottom half of the... More

VIsited with another couple this week and not only is the park great but the boat ride was the best of its kind ever. Gators, birds and Manatees galore. What a wonderfully preserved and maintained State park. Hiking is delightful there too. The hotel's lobby was picturesque.

Awesome) manatee and baby, beautiful foliage...About an hour tour with a well informed guide/boat operator. They are typically... More

Jan and Feb is low season at the park and a great time to visit. If it is cold enough for humans to wear coats, the manatee might be in the springs, up to 30 at a time. As it warms up, they move out of the area. There is a boat ride, narrated by a naturalist that is very... More

Recommended by a volunteer at the Crooked River Lighthouse, we thoroughly enjoyed the area. The trails were good but the best part was the boat ride. The captain was very good at pointing out wildlife. We saw ibis, herons, alligators, a bard owl and a bald eagle sitting royally atop a tree. We had dinner at the lodge which was... More

Great place to visit with family for couple of days at least that gives a real heritage site feel. Hotel rooms were $130 and up. Really helpful staff. The tour was good saw some amazing wildlife. Beautiful Piano being played in the lobby on couple of days a week that is not to miss. Really really quiet place otherwise.
