All Aboard America’s Favorite Movie Train - "The Orange Blossom Cannonball" on the Tavares, Eustis & Gulf Railroad.

Your journey begins from our centrally located depots in either Mount Dora or Tavares. Take the train, stay to eat & shop, and catch a later train back to your starting point. Your excursion is a 1 hour and 45-minute roundtrip between depots. You will travel in vintage coaches pulled by our 1907 wood-fired steam locomotive (most Saturdays) or our 1941 GE 45 ton center cab locomotive (Wednesday – Friday & Sunday). Ride in the actual train cars that stared in over 20 movies, including: “True Grit”, “Appaloosa”, “3:10 to Yuma”, and “O Brother, Where Art Thou?.” Ride in the actual coaches where famous stars such as Robert Redford, Johnny Cash, and George Clooney once performed.

We took our friends who were visiting from out of town on a ride on the Orange Blossom Cannon Ball. What a huge disappointment! We were hoping to see some beautiful Florida countryside and lakes. Instead it was an overpriced tour of a bunch of trailer parks. Save your money!

my friends and I did the Land, Sea, Air excursion. It was the best. We started with the boat ride on the lakes - wonderful....highly recommend. Then we were dropped off to take the sea plane ride - fabulous and exciting...and ending with a ride on the Steam locomotive Cannonball Express. Unfortunately the people who own the track are getting... More

A fun family trip. The ride is approximately 35 minutes on this quaint, historical train and you can travel from Mount Dora to Tavares or vice versa. You pass beautiful views of Lake Dora and the surrounding houses. Tavares is great for a family with young children as there is a large park with a playground there. For food, shopping... More

Thank you for the review. It's always fun to ride on trains and it's rare to find a 100-year old train still in daily service. We're glad you enjoyed it. More

This was the most disappointing thing I have ever experienced. there were 9 of us so that means we spent over 250 dollars for basically nothing. Train moved about 2 miles then stopped, sat for about 5 minutes then went back to the station. There was a very feeble attempt at entertainment which was singing a few Christmas songs. Got... More

I never write bad reviews but we were in the back of the train when it hit a truck. 2 hours on the train with only one announcement of what was happening without updates from there. No offer of refund or voucher as only went half way too. Employee on our caboose deserved a 5 and only reason for my... More

Anyone who attempts to keep the memory of train travel alive for younger generations deserves credit for the attempt. We take our visitors here, paying an exorbitant price for an abbreviated experience because we want to nourish the concept. It is a very short trip traveling through a residential area near the lake between Tavares and Mount Dora. It is... More

So over priced. My 4 year old granddaughter loved it.....but definitely not worth the money. The cold apple cider was warm....the cookies were awful. They went 4 miles going backwards then went 4 miles forward. Santa....was sweating so bad that it was dripping all over. The cookies were on the platform not on the train. No bathrooms....just a horrible overpriced... More

12/18/16 Huge disappointment! Would not recommend even if I had children. After reading a response from Customer Relations Management to another disappointed patron compelled me to write. Apparently some changes were forced due to copyright issue and some other stuff No excuse for substandard product. First point of contact ticket lady at station less than welcoming. Had to ask attendant... More

So disappointed in the Santa train ride tonight. We previously took the ride in 2012, 2013, and it was great. In 2014 it changed and was not as good. We skipped 2015. Decided to try it again tonight and it was nothing like before. It was terrible, no cookies and cocoa, no baker servers, no bell to keep, no elves,... More

Hello Jane, As I said when you e-mailed us, a lot of the things that were in the previous years we are prevented from using as they were too close to the "Polar Express" and we don't have the license to use them.  Once we started looking at the experience and the various comments (both positive and negative) we decided... We are in no way a family of geeks, but we have done steam train in the U.K. Before, so I think we had very high standards and this one one really let us down. You get your ticket from an office that looks like it is run out of a near derelict pre-fab. The staff are pleasant enough, but... More

Thank you for your review. I am a bit confused however about the comment that the ticket office looks like a pre-fab. If you purchased your tickets in Mount Dora, then you should have been in our 1930's era train car and if you purchased them in Tavares then the Depot is only a few years old and is a... More
