We had a blast at the SS American Victory Ship. You get to walk around most of the ship and they have information posted around the ship for you to read. It was cool. Don't forget your military ID - you will get a discount. Would not be good for someone with physical disabilities- no elevator, lots of tight staircases.

My husband and I decided to visit the Victory. My husband enjoyed touring the Victory. He immediately began explaining the inner workings of the ship. He said it reminded him of the old Navy days. If you are in Channel side, it's worth a tour.

Nice Memorial to our past. Still functioning ship, goes out at least twice a year. Served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. A lot of history. Was a nice way to spend a couple hours after a cruise before flying home.

Visited the SS American Victory this week in Tampa. The Ship is located in Ybor Channel close to the Aquarium, but was a little hidden, so don't give up on her. Her crew and supportor's certainly have not. The ship has an interesting history and there is a good amount of memorabilia about the merchant marine's history. The true treasure... More

Almost all areas of the ship are accessible to visitors. You can wander around as you like and see how life would have been for the sailors on this ship and others like it. It was a great experience for my 13 year old son. Lots of history to be found.

With only a few ships of this type left afloat this has to be on your list of important ships to visit. The staff were helpful and cheerful. The ship hull and powerplant still operational, most of the rest of the ship rusting so go visit while you still can as the maintenance for this vessel is mounting fast!

I've been to several other ship museums. They had most of the stuff closed off. They have things laying all over that didnt belong. They had staged stuff that wasn't even from the era. It took us less than an hour. Don't recommend. Waste of money.

We had been to the Aquarium, walked around and found the ship. The ship is donation only. Nearly, every part of the ship is accessible! We had more fun exploring the ship, than going to the aquarium!

My wife was in Tampa for a conference so I was looking for something to do. This is located behind the aquarium so you won't see if from the street. This would be a neat place to take the kids to let them see a piece of WW2 history... Plus it does have big guns they can sit at and... More

If you have a few hours before or after your cruise leaves out of the Port of Tampa, a self-guided tour of the liberty ship "SS American Victory" is a great way to spend the time and learn a little history. There are quite a few steps and small spaces to get into, but it was a fun way to... More
