Opening day for the Florida House of Representitaves

The place was a flurry of activity, fresh flowers on all of the table tops in the House Chamber. The opening ceremony was very official and patriotic, the national anthem, pledge... read more

This is very unique state Capitol building. It is a 22 story tower - not a traditional dome building. North Dakota also has a tower structure but I am not aware of another state which does. The highlight for the traveler is the observation on the 22nd floor which offers stunning views. Sadly there is no outdoor access. There is... More

I was not impressed with the new Capitol building...I went because I needed to stamp my Capitol book. We did visit the 5 th floor with the house and senate, and we did go to the 22nd floor to look out at the city of Tallahassee. The senate was in session at 1 that day so it was very very... More

I helped chaperone this trip to Tallahassee for 15 7th graders. We received an excellent tour of the building. It was very informative and the students enjoyed the observation deck and the landmarks pointed out. Then we went down to the gallery of the House of Representatives where we were so lucky to see a bill be passed! Next we... More

This is a must when you are in town. See the museum in Old Capitol an then take the elevator up to the top of New Capitol to see the view over the city.

The place was a flurry of activity, fresh flowers on all of the table tops in the House Chamber. The opening ceremony was very official and patriotic, the national anthem, pledge of allegiance and a color guard made the opening day complete. The lobby was filled with facts and the high ceilings just added to the feeling of being there.... More

I went with a group to support first responders. We went to see our local representatives and senators. The odd thing about this place is that the senators and representatives are not all in one grouping. I would have expected the senators to be in one side of the capitol and the representatives on the other. Not the case. We... More

The new capitol building has quite a few different permanent displays. The best floors for these are 1, 2, and 3. On the 4th floor depending on the time of year you can walk around the House of Representatives and Senate chamber floor and look at the artwork. The 5th floor is for viewing during session. Getting your photo in... More

This was one place I had to stop at before leaving back home and that was to go up 22nd floor in the Florida Capitol building and observe the views and its free! As you walk in, you must go through security first which was easy and then you can just take the elevator up to the 22nd floor. There... More

Went to see legislature in session. The legislators were in committee meetings. The building was very crowded with tours and everyday traffic!

We toured the 22nd floor which provided great views of the entire city. We had a guide with us who explained what we were viewing in each direction. There were signs depicting major items to view from each direction, so you could do this without a guide. We also got to view both chambers where the representatives meet.
