Love driving over the causeway. We have seen dolphins while driving over it. Great view of the island when heading onto Sanibel.

They take the Florida Sun Pass! Great view coming onto Sanibal Island and just as great returning to Fort Myers. Beautiful contrast of Gulf waters in the bay.

If you want to get to Sanibel Island, then you must use the Sanibel Causeway. It's a pretty long stretch, so if you're leary of bridges, have someone else drive and close those eyes! It's well-maintained and the toll booth operators are always super friendly.

It was fun driving over the causeway that connected the islands...we went to Sanibel Island this way.

It's not really fair to fault the causeway. Just remember to stay on the island because every time you leave, it's $6.00 toll to get back across.

The causeway is an awesome stop along the way to Sanibel Island. It is beautiful and usually has calm waters on either side depending on wind conditions. Water is always beautiful blue and fishing is great. I love that you can just drive up to...More

Dosen't matter when you drive this road (except probably during hurricane or similar storm) the views are great. We his sunset, night time, first light and sunrise and mid afternoon. Coastal sidings along causeway with picnic facilities were an unexpected bonus.

Beautiful drive to Sanibel Island. Very busy do to Mother's Day crowds. A must see if you are near the area. $6.00 toll, so make it a day.

Beautiful beaches! Very clean. Lots of fisherman by the bridge itself and lots of things to look at while you enjoy the sun and the water.

This is a great way to see how all the little islands are connected and the beautiful scenery along the way. If you have time stop and pick up some shells along the way. Loved our drive and would do it again for $6.

Since they built it...$6 toll on Ft Myers mainland side...naturally no toll when you leave... Before such they had a ferry to the island
Can someone please tell me where you pay the toll? We never saw a toll booth and ended up with a fine.

I'm not sure how you would miss it since you can't go over the bridge without paying. There were two lines, one for the Sun Pass and the other for paying cash.
How do you pay for the causeway? Is there a cash line, credit card line etc.... Do you pay in quarters? Thanks.

For cars going to Sanibel is $6 and its cash only, unless you have a SunPass. If for any reason you don't have the money just stop and let the attendant know and they will bill you; it will cost you a few extra bucks.
