My friend has a condo on Sanibel so we walk to the lighthouse and then on to the fishing pier and back to get exercise. I don't think that the lighthouse is open to the public but I have heard that you can find accommodations either in or close by the lighthouse. This last time we passed the lighthouse on... More

If you want to see dolphins swimming, find better sea shells, and have a tremendous view of the mainland, this is your spot. The sand is wonderful and you can wait out to sandbars making it look like you are away from the beach. People bring their beach chairs just to enjoy the view and the feel of this area.

We road bikes to the lighthouse. What a well kept place right on the Gulf of Mexico. Beaches surround the park area with great walking areas. Nice stop.

We never tire to visiting this place every year we go to Sanibel. It is a great oasis to walk on the beach or sit by the picnic tables in the shade.

As the lighthouse is a place visit and as some information it is NOT open on a daily basis to go in. It is interesting and in a good park near the beach and fishing pier . . . . . .

This is by the city park, so you must visit while you are there if not from simple curiosity. How many lighthouses do you see in Florida? (really, I do not know) But something to do on a long narrow strip of sand anyway when you have time to poke around.

Love coming here for breakfast... my favourite are the granola pancakes... have them every time! Cute shops to poke around in while you wait for your table!

Went to the beach here yesterday. Traffic was awful and we probably got the last parking spot. Parking was $17 (they charge 24 hours a day). The beach had the fine white sand and was very clean. This beach is supposed to be very good for shells. Several boats dropped anchor off shore and the occupants waded ashore. There are... More

The Sanibel Island Lighthouse and Beach is spectacular. The sand is white, the water is clear, and shells are plentiful. It is a great experience to see Sanibel Island.

The Sanibel Island or Point Ybel Lighthouse opened in 1884. It was one of the first Florida lighthouses north of Key West. The actual light house is not open to the public but the area is a popular tourist attraction. Historical information is located at the site and additionally, information on shells and sea live is contained on a series... More
