Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, Memorial Presbyterian Church is...

Located in historic St. Augustine, Florida, Memorial Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are not just any church. We are Florida's first Presbyterian congregation, established in 1824. CNN has named us one of the eight religious wonders in the United States. The present sanctuary was given by Henry Morrison Flagler and dedicated in 1890 as a memorial to his daughter Jenny Louise Benedict who died from complications from childbirth. Mr. Flagler, his first wife, Mary, daughter Jenny Louise and granddaughter, Marjorie, are entombed in the Flagler family mausoleum at Memorial. The church is open for visitors Monday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a tour of the church by one of our trained docents during the week and then return on Sunday to join us in worship. Our visitors come from across the state, the nation, and the world.

We passed this beautiful church from the trolley. We decided to get off on all days to be Good Friday as we wanted to see the inside. Suppose to open at 11am. I guess with it being a religious holiday the inside was not open for tour. We are so bummed we didn't get to see it from inside. I'm... More

Memorial Presbyterian Church is a very active church with a large congregation. Unfortunately Good Friday is a "religious" holiday and the church was closed to touring; however, we were open from 12:00 - 3:00pm for a Good Friday Prayer Vigil. Guests/Visitors were invited in to the Sanctuary to take part in this time of prayer, music and meditation and because... More

This is gorgeous church and has some history that is worth listening to or investigating. It takes about 45 minutes to do the whole tour. I would recommend family or friends to visit this historic church.

Beautiful Church inside and out. Worth the visit and challenges with parking. My husband was kind enough to drop me off and ride around the block until I had seen and photographed all the beauty this Church has to offer.

Beautiful architecture with interesting history. Docent on duty to explain the meaning of the murals, etc. and history. Very knowledgeable. No fees, but donation request is appreciated and appropriate.

A free attraction. Beautiful church built by Henry Flagler in memory of his daughter and grand daughter. No expense was spared in the construction of this church, including the organ, stained glass windows and the mausoleum with Henry Flagler, his first wife, his daughter and grand daughter, who both died shortly after birth. We were fortunate to visit on a... More

This church is stunning. The story is moving and the feeling I felt after leaving was eternal. No trip to the area is complete without visiting this church. The architecture is very impressive and I want to go back soon to spend more time at the site.

Built within one year in memory of his daughter Jenny , Henry Flagler spared no expense to make this church both gorgeous and inviting. Take the time to wait for the docents full tour! It's a neat story of love and dedication. It is also the final resting place for both Flagler, Jenny and his first wife. A beautiful church... More

This church felt like some of the magnificent cathedrals I have visited in Europe. The stained glass windows are so incredible. And the pipe organ .... have been to a concert here and the music from the organ is nothing less than ethereal. There are so many details within this church, you could sit for hours and not see everything.... More

What a beautiful structure. Built in a single year by Standard Oil Magnate Henry Flagler as a memorial to his daughter, the structure is simply amazing. Couple a visit here with visits to Flagler College (across the street) and the Lightner Museum, and you will have hit the trifecta that helps to document the amazing contributions that Flagler made to...
