This was a self guided tour along with an educational video about the house. It is in fact the oldest standing house in st Augustine. It was originally and old nunnery. The history behind the house is incredible. It's a little ways off the beaten path but well worth it. This is a free museum.

Stumbled on this gem of history because it was close to our B&B. Wonderful (and free) piece of St. Augustine history. They had many well preserved and interesting artifacts.

Watch the 8 minute video! It's so informative and the nuns take very good care of the museum. The exhibits are interesting and if you have any questions the nuns are more than happy to share their wealth of knowledge. Admission is free but I hope you will give a donation if you visit.

The Father Miguel O'Reilly House Museum is located on Aviles St in St. Augustine. The building, dating from the earliest days of the Ancient City, is a museum of artifacts of the early life in St. Augustine as well as a testament to the lives of the Sisters of Saint Joseph who dedicated their lives to helping and teaching the... There was a seven minute DVD. However, speaking to the Sisters and having a history lesson from them was much more entertaining and thorough. It is free with a donation box. I spent more money other places received less information so it was easy to donate (I am Christian. Although I am not Catholic). Spend time reading as you go... More

We arent catholic(or religious for that matter) but paid a visit to the museum, we had a great time and would recommend it. There is a ton of history behind this house and they have a very neat collection of art work produced by the nuns who once resided there along with some other period artifacts. The employees were very... More

History buffs this attraction is calling you. Such nice people that give of their time. The gardens are nice way to enter the O Reilly House. Such nice features and displays. This is a great stop for families and couples alike. You will not be disappointed for stopping and they only take donations if you feel up to it.

We are Catholics and our visit to this house was very inspiring. We had the honor of meeting Sr. Thomas Joseph who has been here for 70 years and is the archivist for the Sisters of Saint Joseph who maintain this beautiful house. She has written a book documenting the history of the order including the history of the faithful... More

We were pointed here by a guide from the Visitor's Center. The story of the nuns of St. Joseph, who taught black schoolchildren was captivating. While there, we met Sister Thomas Joseph McGoldrick and Bill, a volunteer, who both were very informative and helpful. The history and architecture were very interesting. It was a wonderful experience. Don't forget to leave... More

My husband and I stopped here while avoiding the overcrowded streets of St Augustine. It's an old school house/living quarters for the Sister's of St Joseph. The story of how the building was made and changed over the decades is really quite awesome. Admission is free but there is NO air conditioning. Fans throughout but still really hot. Lots of...
