Quaint & Quirky!

Many different periods of homes on this one property. A lovely place to visit. My favorite was the very crooked house. You are free to walk around at your own pace, and the... read more

I heard about the Dow Museum through my mom who called me when I arrived to tell me she read about it in a travel guide. I finally found the way to the museum (after trying to look a few times) and finally found it. Very much closed. I'm not sure if perhaps they are being renovated or it was... More

This wonderland of old house ( nine to be exact ) has been sold. The history of this parcel is fascinating. One of the house's is the Prince Murat House, the nephew of Napoleon. They are fun to go through and see how tiny the stairways and rooms are. They lived a much simpler life back then. Not sure when... More

I had the great fortune to spend a couple of hours with the team engaged in the renovations of the entire city block formerly known and the Dow Museum of Historic Houses and soon to be known as The Historic St. Augustine Inn. These folks are highly dedicated to historical restoration a great costs. The Museum of Arts and Sciences... More

It was such a cool experience to walk through these little houses and see how people lived in the past. From the furniture to the books, it was like walking into another world. Almost felt like being on an historical HGTV show! The woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful.

A beautiful history of 9 homes back to 1790. A private individual has purchased the properties and will make it a short term residency hotel. i.e. 3 nights to a month as an example. More information will come later. It is a wonderful thing happening for the nations most historic city.

The museum had 13 years of being a museum and most everyone just loved seeing the old houses and grounds. It has been sold, so keep your eyes opened to see what is coming next to the wonderful old houses and I'm sure most everyone will be happy. Good luck to the new owners.

Not very well promoted, not the most flashy stop on the red train tour. Don't let that fool you. This is a wonderland of historical homes, antiques, fountains, and furnishings. So worth the time to walk around and enjoy the hidden gardens. ALL THE BUILDINGS ARE AIR CONDITIONED.

If you like historical houses, or just history in general, you must go to this museum. It's unusual because I was expecting pictures of houses, or dioramas and such. No, it was an open area with about 8 houses. I don't know how much space it all covered. Between the houses were amazing statues and topiaries. One house had been... More

Where in St Augustine can you find 9 house on the orginial property together? Yes, they all need work but isn't that the charm of them. Many rumors of being sold, torn down become a parking lot doesn't stop the staff from putting their best foot forward and try to save the moments of history. So come and see it... More
