The Fort is a must visit Historical Landmark!

The Fort is evidence of the strong Spanish history of St. Augustine and Florida. Also beautiful views of the river and city!

Be sure to schedule your visit to catch the firing of the cannon. Really is a great fort with great exhibits. The view from the upper deck is fantastic. The cannons are truly decorative works of art.

This is the oldest fort in the country and is said to be haunted. There is a fee to get inside and I don't remember what we paid but it wasn't bad. It is remarkable if you enjoy history.

If you travel to St. Augastine, this is a Must see! My daughter wasn't really into seeing the Fort. However, once we were inside, she was in awe. The views are amazing and the History lesson is something your kids won't ever forget !

We enjoyed the interaction with the staff; the firing of the cannons and the fantastic view. So much history.

We have been before, but my 9 y.o. daughter loves history, so we took her. She loved it and learned a lot. She was grossed out with the bathroom they had to use!

Good spot in St. Augustine to see, but would consider it an under used asset. The amount and depth of exhibits was lackluster.

Walk back in time as you cross the drawbrige into Castillo de San Marcos you will be greeted by a soldier wearing a wool uniform and tri-corner hat. See the carvings prisoners drew on the coquina walls, feel the hard wooden bed frames the officers slept on, climb the stairs to listen to the cannon fire and smell the gunpowder... More

Castillo de San Marcos is one of my favorite forts I've ever visited. Although it's packed on the weekends, the place is a great value to visit during the middle of the week after the crowds die down a little. I would highly recommend being around when they shoot the cannons...man are those things loud!

Can't believe this is so old. Lots of history here. The ranger had a good talk about the fort, how it was built, materials used, etc.
